Summer Sailstice - Sail locally, celebrate globally

"This is a great idea. We love to get folks out on their boats having fun in a non-competitive manner."
~Susan Altman

'Ocean Watch' has departed as of May 31st - Just 24,000 miles and 13 months to go!

The 64’ sloop ‘Ocean Watch’ has departed Seattle March 31st for a 24,000 mile, 31 port circumnavigation of the Americas. Under command of Captain Mark Schrader and crewed by renowned editor Herb McCormick along with others including scientists from Seattle's Pacific Science Center and the University of Washington's Applied Physics Lab this, first-ever voyage around the Americas will document the changing ocean environment and raise awareness of the peril faced by the ocean ecosystem.

Summer Sailstice sailors are encouraged to sail ‘with them’ on Summer Sailstice weekend when ‘Ocean Watch’ will be approaching Dutch Harbor Alaska. By contributing dollars to Sailors for the Sea for each mile you sail on Summer Sailstice you will help support the mission of the ‘Around the Americas’ voyage. Sailors are one of the few groups of people whose regular contact with the oceans gives them a unique appreciation for its wonders and beauty.

You can follow the voyage at www.sailorsforthesea.org and offer your support when you sign up for Summer Sailstice and check the box for Sailors for the Sea. You’ll help Mark and Herb complete this never-before-completed voyage around the Americas and be part of a growing group of sailors who not only enjoy the world’s oceans but also contribute to protect them. Sign up for Summer Sailstice and check the 'Sailors for the Sea' box to offer your support!
