| Summer Sailstice can be celebrated in so many ways—and you can spread the joy of sailing around while you celebrate. Marisa Velasco and Charlie Bloomer of San Carlos Yachts have decided to do just that by organizing lots of fun and generous community outreach activities from their base in Marina San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.
On Saturday, June 18, Charlie and Marisa have organized a group of local sailors to take orphans from the city of Guaymas on a morning sail around the bay. If you’re still sailing in the area and want to take some kids out for a joy-ride, contact San Carlos Yachts to sign up.
Sunday, June 19, is the Bay and Beach Clean-up from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. San Carlos Yachts is working with the World Wildlife Fund, Conciencia y Educacion Ambiental (CEA), and Conservation International as well as Islas del Golfo and Marina San Carlos to organize this event. Your volunteer efforts will not go unrewarded. Besides having the satisfaction of helping to make San Carlos a cleaner, more beautiful place to live in and visit, volunteers are also invited to a post-clean-up dock party from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hosted by Barracuda Bob’s, the party will include soft drinks, hot dogs, and fixin’s for all volunteers, as well as live music by Mark Mulligan.
