Betsy Alison is Adult Director for US Sailing, a five-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the year winner, an inductee into the National Sailing Hall of Fame, a tireless advocate and coach for disabled sailing and an endlessly enthusiastic supporter for growing participation in sailing. She and her team helped get the message out to all of US Sailing's 'First Sail' locations to unite them all in the Summer Sailstice celebration of sailing. We appreciated her comments which appeared in today's edition of Scuttlebutt Sailing News. Here comments here:
GET OUT AND ENJOY THE DAY
"So you thought that US Sailing was just all about racing? Not true. On Saturday, June 22, over 55 US Sailing member organizations and 15 First Sail locations participated in Summer Sailstice - an event organized by John Arndt to get folks out on the water to celebrate the start of summer.
Though many US Sailing members and their friends do race, all enjoy being out with family and friends on the water. We salute everyone who took part in this event and encouraged others to get out and enjoy the day.
US Sailing also supported the event raffle with some complimentary memberships and some great education publications from Learn Sailing Right up through our suite of Keelboat Cruising books. Start planning on joining in on the fun for next year!"
Thank you to Betsy, US Sailing and all the locations across the country who joined in to share and celebrate sailing.
Who took you for your first sail? Let us know.
