Know and share the proper boating safety procedures with your crew during Summer Sailstice and you could win a US Sailing Online Safety at Sea Offshore Course donated by US Sailing (valued at $150) and Orange Coast College School of Sailing and Seamanship tech shirt (valued at $30).
Take a picture and provide a short description of what you taught and what your crew discovered in any (or all!) of these safety categories:
Simulating using the VHF radio to report an emergency;
Knowing where the fire extinguishers are located and how to use them;
Simulating an overboard rescue;
Understanding when and how to use a flare.
Submit your entry by June 30! Winners will be announced on July 19th!
Don't forget to wear your personal flotation devices, file a float plan with a family member or friend on land, and observe all maritime rules of the road.
