Join us on Saturday, June 20, 2015 to celebrate the 15th annual Summer Sailstice! The South Coast Sailing Club will be holding a special Day Bay Sail to celebrate the Summer Sailstice, a global holiday celebrating sailing. Sailors can participate by day sailing on one of our fine vessels and join fellow sailors from all 50 US states and over 40 countries sailing ‘together’, wherever they were in the world.
Check-in for the event will begin at 12:30 pm, followed by a captain's briefing and then you will set sail at about 1:00 pm and expect to return around 5 pm. Afterwards we will gather on the patio for a barbecue dinner in which everyone will bring their favorite side dish or dessert.The price for club members will be $70 and the price for the public will be $85. This is a perfect opportunity to sharpen your sail trimming skills and to join other sailing enthusiasts for a wonderful event.
The Summer Sailstice was founded in 2001 and is the global sailing holiday celebrated on the weekend closest to the summer solstice connecting the global sailing community in a multifaceted and multi-location sailing holiday. Every year, Summer Sailstice unites over 19,000 sailors all over the world—cruisers, racers and recreational—to celebrate and showcase life under sail. The event has expanded to include participants from Asia, across the Americas and Europe. In 2013, the celebration grew to almost 4,900 sailboats racing, cruising and day sailing in 50 US states and 40 countries.
