Thirteen boats and 26 sailors-a lot for a landlock lake in the Ozarks. (a fourteenth boat sailed out early with more crew but had to return early so we could fudge figures a little!
Sailors from Beaver Lake Sail Club set sail at 11am on Saturday with the islands in site-Shaddock Island that is. Thirteen boats made the 7.5km trip to anchor in the lee of the island or at least sail through to say hello. Great winds aye!
Treasure Dive- After anchoring, several of the sailors discover "gold booty coins" that were scattered in the shallow water (gold painted fender washers). "Cure for Dreams" and "Valkyrie recovered the most gold and were rewarded with kites to fly on the way home!
Poker Run- The deck of "Real Pirate" cards was split by lead boats Defiance and Bella Luna. All boats making it past Point 5 (and all did) drew cards from one vessel either in person, by radio, or by dinghy delivery. They were allowed to discard at the second vessel and drew new cards. Second Place was "Wet Dream" with a straight, but first was "Cha Ching" with a flush. Both received a bottle of fine vintage Pinot wine.
All the boats then set sail back to port for burgers/brats/ and pot luck of side dishes.
Great Job everyone-lets make it bigger better next year.
