One of the great things about Summer Sailstice is connecting with sailors who are doing their thing all over the world. For us, that means some quick texts or notes from friends who might be anywhere from San Francisco to Tromsa, Norway. This morning we got a note from 70 degrees North from Jon & Cindy Knowles aboard their J-46 Abracadabra who actually are anchored in Tromso, Norway. You see Jon and Cindy are Maine sailors and, as soon as spring and warmth arrive in Maine, they feel the need to sail further North to stay cool. They'll have an adventure that very few others will have and will also have twenty for hours of daylight and, hopefully, sunshine.
Tromsa Norway is far North where the sun shines all day long.
There's no need to wait until Saturday to start celebrating Summer Sailstice. With the solstice the summer starts today!
