Summer Sailstice voyages happen everywhere and continue for generations.
It all starts somewhere such as a short sail in a small boat on a small pond in Indiana. But, after that, who knows where wind and sails will take you? Art Baxter of Carmel, IN sent in pictures of him and his daughter on ‘The Big Sail’ of their Summer Sailstice. While others were off on the Bermuda Race we’d best most of them started out sailing in a very similar first voyage of adventure and discovery.
Art wrote us to tell of their peaceful sail on Summer Sailstice:
My granddaughter, Madelyn and I, sailed our Nutshell gaff rigged 9' pram Dinky Mouse from Wooden Boats built over a quarter of a century ago by me and my son. Madelyn and I are sailing on Oak Pond in Carmel, Indiana, the Heartland of the country. Not much wind, but the sign is up and we had a grand time.
We hope many other sailors get a start like Madelyn. Bon Voyage!

And a star to steer her by.”
