Massachusetts sailors enjoy full weekend of Sailstice sailing

Captain Bill Scanlon and wife Andrea enjoyed another Summer Sailstice, aboard sailboat Ruby.  Ruby is a pristine 1984 Catalina 30 that home-ports at the Winthrop Massachusets YC.  Neither Ruby, Andrea nor Bill have missed a Sailstice yet.  On Saturday evening they motored-sailed from Winthrop into Boston’s inner harbor to view a beautiful Boat Parade of Lights.  Then they gently sailed back to WYC in moon lit skies.  The crew included daughter Lindsey, her fiancée Rob, Charles Scott and Janice.

On Sunday, Father’s Day, Andrea & Bill sailed out of Boston Harbor in steady 10 knot north-westerly breezes for a pleasant & fast Massachusets North Shore coastal sail returning a few hours later in stiffer 20+ knots westerly’s winds, on the nose.

Says Bill, with Boston’s harsh winters, Sailstice is a very welcome demarcation of Summer.
