MORE ABOUT AMBASSADORS SONYA AND JACK!
Sonya and Jack are both licensed captains and liveaboard a 1986 Passport 42, SV Gemini. While the two have plans to cruise down the road, they are currently based in the San Fransisco bay where they run a marine maintenance and yacht management business, Spirit Marine Services.
Jack grew up sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and Sonya learned to sail in high school in Uruguay. Fate brought them together here in the San Fransisco Bay where they have been living aboard, refitting their own boat, working on other people's boats, while chasing adventure and sharing it on their awesome YouTube channel.
Jack and Sonya are the ultimate boat DIYers and pretty much know everything about fixing boats. They are currently going through every system of their boat SV Gemini, with plans to cruise her around the world. Recently these two tackled construction their own mainsail, completely overhauling their mast and installing synthetic Dyneema rigging. Next up they plan to construct custom fiberglass diesel tanks. You can read a bit more about their DIY boatyard approach in the March issue of Latitude 38.
Sonya and Jack are also committed to a zero-waste lifestyle, not using single-use plastics nor bring plastic onto their floating home whenever it is possible. Sonya is a talented baker and has been (prior to COVID-19) offering 'Sourdough on a Boat' Airbnb experiences. These two are always thinking outside of the box on how they can save for their cruising dreams.
