The Rockland Yacht Club will hold its annual Solstice Race on June 21. This is a fun event open to everyone and it’s free! There will be two classes. One for boats 24 feet and under and one for boats over 24 feet. Registration begins at 9:00 am at the Rockland Yacht Club (head of the dock at the public landing) with a skipper’s meeting at 10:00 am. The first start is at 11:30. The racing is expected to last about two hours. A cookout and award celebration will be held around 3:00.

The Sailstice is held annually on the summer solstice and the weekend closest to it, the longest sailing days of the year. This international event was founded in 2001 to connect the global sailing community in a fun, creative, multifaceted, sailing holiday. Every year Summer Sailstice connects over 5000 sailors, cruisers and racers, in an informal celebration of sail.
