2017 Video Challenge Winners Announced

Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for, the Summer Sailstice 2017 Video Challenge winners announcement.

We received 14 fantastic video entries, each one unique, creative and fun. This of course made the judging pretty difficult, but we stuck to our list of predetermined criteria to come up with the 2017 Video Challenge ‘JUDGES' CHOICE’ winners, and of course we know how to count for the 'Sailors' Choice' awards.

Here are the ‘JUDGES' CHOICE’ winners:

1st Place goes to Rafe Sigmundstad’s clip of ‘Fort Peck Sailing Club celebrating Summer Sailstice in Montana’.  Rafe’s entry demonstrated what we love about sailing and about Summer Sailstice - sharing the joys of sailing. Plus, his editing work was pretty cool. Rafe wins the GoPro HERO 5 Black, Sharon Green’s 30 Years of Ultimate Sailing, a 2GB Custom Chart from Navionics, a Wichard Knife or Tether, and Backpack from Northsails.

2nd place goes to Skyler Harmer’s ‘S-V Unsinkable 2 by Sky the Camera Guy’.  Sky showed us the beauty of sailing through not only the great scenery you can expect, but also the onboard beauty and elegance of the vessel itself. Skylar wins a 2GB Custom Navionics Chart, a Wichard Knife or Tether, and a 2017 & 2018 Calendar set from Ultimate Sailing.

3rd place winner is 'Amanda Hayley’s ‘Summer Sailstice Fort Lauderdale style!’ Amanda showed us how much fun sailing can be when you’re out on the water with family and friends. Amanda wins a Navionics Boating App, Wichard Knife or Tether, and 1-yr subscription to Cruising Outpost Magazine.

4th - Connie Polk - ‘Chatham Sailing Club members had a great weekend on the water, at least on our boat!’ - Navionics Boating App, 1-yr subscription to Cruising Outpost Magazine.

5th - Nathan Barinstein - ‘Sailing Can Hurt’ - a Navionics App, 1-yr subscription to Cruising Outpost Magazine.

The ‘SAILORS’ CHOICE’ awards should have been less tricky, but we did have a tough decision to make. After some issues with our voting system on Youtube and Facebook and incredibly close numbers, we averaged out the votes across across both platforms and decided to call first and second place a draw.

The 2017 Video Challenge Sailors' Choice winners are

Shared 1st & 2nd place goes to Nathan Barinstein's - ‘Sailing Can Hurt’, and Andrinna Hoffman's - ‘My parents had an AMAZING time in Greece’ .  Nathan and Andrinna each win a 2GB Custom Navionics Chart, a copy of Sally-Christine Rodgers’ Convergence - A Voyage Through French Polynesia, a Wichard Knife or Tether, and a Summer Sailstice Swag Pack with a 2017 Tshirt, Cap, and Burgee.

Adrinna Nathan

3rd Place winner is  Amanda Hayley’s ‘Summer Sailstice Fort Lauderdale style!’.  Amanda wins the Gowrie Group waterproof Gill Backpack, and a Helly Hansen Visor, and a Mantus Anchors Bottle Opener.
