The 2018 Summer Sailstice Video Challenge entries are full of great Summer Sailstice action and we thank everyone who participated and helped create and submit this year's videos. In case you haven't seen them yet, you can view all the entries here.
As per usual, we can only have one first-place winner and this year we offer our ...
Congratulations, to Mike Harmer for his winning video, "s-v Unsinkable 2."
Mike captured the essence of sailing - a great day on the water aboard a sailboat with sunshine, breezes, smiles and laughter. This is why we keep casting off from the docks. And while we know we won't always have always fair winds and following seas, we keep going out in hopes of the best conditions and, as well as possible, are prepared for what ever we encounter on the day.
Mike wins a GoPro HERO6 Black, a copy of Convergence - A Voyage Through French Polynesia, by Sally-Christine Rodgers, a Mantus Anchors Backpack, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics App.
Second Prize is won by Lake Canyon Yacht Club for their video, "Rations, Rain, Raft up & Rum."
These pirates know how to Sailstice, and by now should probably know their rums exceptionally well. Lake Canyon YC's Summer Sailstice celebrations include their annual Rum Tasting session and after many years of practice, this year's rums should have been pretty darn good!
LYCY wins a copy of Convergence - A Voyage Through French Polynesia, by Sally-Christine Rodgers, a Mantus Anchors Headlamp, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics App.
This year's Third Place goes to Marina Riviera Nayarit's "Umbrella Downwinder 2018." The happy sailors down south clearly enjoy the water and the opportunity get onboard a range of unusal sailcraft. We love the fun this crew has with their annual Summer Sailstice celebrations.
Marina Riviera Nayarit wins a Mantus Anchors Headlamp, a 1-year subscription to Blue Water Sailing Magazine, and a Navionics App.
Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone who was involved in creating and entering their videos. We'll be doing it all again next year so put the date into your calendar now - June 22, 2019.
