CAVE RUN SAILING ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES SAILSTICE ON TWO CONTINENTS!

The Cave Run Sailing Association is celebrating Summer Sailstice with two different events.  Fifteen sailors will celebrate the Sailstice sailing Italy with visits to places as Salivoli, Medici, Volterra, Lucca, Pisa, Carrara, Elba, Parma, Florence, and Cinque Terra. These sailors will enjoy sailing the Cyclades 43.3 and practicing skills on the Mediterranean waters.  Sailing is not the only thing planned.  Dinners on board will feature locally grown vegetables, meats, cheeses and wines.  Day trips will include cheese and wine making tours, museums, and celebrating one sailor’s birthday with the opera Carmen in Florence.  What a way to celebrate the longest day of the year!

The club has plans for those staying state side too.  Club members will sail Cave Run Lake with a race and raft up overnight.  The raft up gives members a chance to know each other while grilling delicious meals after a long day of sailing and racing.  And it may be the first time this year that boats will be sailing Cave Run’s 8000 acre lake as spring rains have flooded ramps and docks and prohibited them from sailing.

“By the long summer days sailing will be at its best, in Italy and in Kentucky,” says Ed Puterbaugh, Commodore.

The club has had many such adventures as sailing the French Mediterranean coast, the British Virgin Islands, San Francisco, and Chesapeake Bays.  In July members will sail the coast of Scotland and visit  pubs along the way.

Together CRSA members sail, teach, explore, and relive their adventures with monthly TRIP TALES.  CRSA is an active club that always welcomes new sailors! You can find out more about Cave Run Sailing Association here: http://www.caverunsailing.org/
