Chesapeake Sunflower Raft Up for Summer Sailstice

The Chesapeake Bristol Club will challenge the sun gods and anchoring, fenders, docklines and friends to coordinate a Summer Sailstice special – a sunflower raft up.  Like Stonehenge it will be perfectly aligned to welcome the summer rays on the solstice.

Saturday, June 21-Sunday, June 22 meet up in Mill Creek off White Hall Bay for the Chesapeake Bristol Club's Annual Sunflower Raft-up. The theme this year is the Wild West--so come with boat decorations, dress and delectables to match. For more information visit www.cbclub.info

The Chesapeake Bristol Club is also known as the Bristol Club and just CBC. CBC is a group of sailors who enjoy sailing the Bay and the fellowship of others who have the same interest in boating. The club history goes back to 1974.

Today CBC are a cruising club consisting of about 80 members who own a variety of boats. In addition to Bristols, there are boats manufactured by Morgan, Island Packet, Hylas, Catalina, Sabre, Down Easter, Pearson, C&C, Lippincott, J, Passport, Freedom, Hardin, Columbia, Islander, Caliber, Tartan, CapeDory, Frer, Irwin, S2, Encore, Gulfstar, Sirius, and Hake Seaward. Plus there is a trawler or two in CBC.

These sunflower raft ups require some careful planning and experience but the Chesapeake Bristol Club has done it before and once crafted are a great way to get together and celebrate sun, summer and sailing.
