Defending the America's Cup in America

San Francisco has released the 'term sheet' for its bid to host the America's Cup.  If you are a sailor who'd like to see the Cup hosted on San Francisco Bay here are some action items for you:

The term sheet will be referred to the Board of Supervisor's Land Use Committee and heard next Monday, October 4 at 1 p.m. at City Hall, Room 263.  This is your chance to show your support for bringing the 34th America's Cup to the San Francisco Bay. Please come to the hearing and testify.

Between now and then, call, email and write the members of the Board of Supervisors to share your support. Here is a link to their contact information: (http://www.sfbos.org/index.aspx?page=1616).

The executive summary, resolution and term sheet that were introduced at the Board today are up on the San Francisco mayor's site, so please go here for those documents:

We are at the helm of a tremendous opportunity - with your support, we will realize it.

How to help further:

American sailors are making a big push for public support to defend the America’s Cup in America – specifically in San Francisco.

It's vital right now to both the San Francisco city government and BMW Oracle Racing to have a tangible show of support to indicate that AC34 should be in America.

To show your support for defending the America’s Cup in America, please take a few minutes to do the following:

* Post a Facebook message at: www.facebook.com/AC34toUSA

* Send an email of support to the San Francisco Mayor's office.

* Post a Twitter message to: www.twitter.com/34thAC

The aim is for 20,000 names on the Facebook page and hopefully thousands of letters to the Mayor's office. Please forward a link to this page to help spread the word. If you don’t do it, who will?
