Sail in Nevada and Arizona on Lake Mead and whip up some fun Summer Sailstice waves! Dozens of boats will gather June 23rd in Lake Mead and sail in formation along Boulder Beach. Joining forces to celebrate the sheer joy of the longest day of summer sailing, 25 boats from the Nevada Yacht Club, Lake Mead Sailing Club, Hobie Fleet 51 and the Las Vegas Sail & Power Squadron will make two or three passes along the beach and blow their horns at high noon local time.
The question is, will Arizona and Nevada be in the same time zone since Arizona vacilates between Pacific and Mountain time, depending on time of year? We don't know. We are hoping you do. After the sail, the group of watercrafts will return to the Lake Mead Marina and enjoy a Mexican buffet dinner and live bluegrass tunes from the Marty Warburton Band while the sun sets. Contests include knot tying, a raffle, and a burgee competition. Sailors create a personal boat burgee of any size or type and are judged for creativity and theme for the boat and crew.? Students from the Nevada Yacht Sail Training sessions are invited. Long live the sun and wind!
