Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club of Lighthouse Point, Florida

The Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club in Lighthouse Point, Florida is planning their "1st Annual International Circle Raft Up" on Lake Boca. The group will have approximately 30 sailboats participating. On June 18th sailors will complete a circle of boats by 3 PM and start the festivities by communicating over Channel 68. There will be a pontoon boat in the center for judging Best Decorated Boat, Best Costume and Best Culinary Delight from the country they are representing. After the judging and the awarding of prizes, there will be a dinghy fest to share culinary delights with the group. After that everyone will go back to his or her own boats to share an international meal with guests on board. After dinner, everyone will be free to start circling the boats to visit with friends and meet new ones.

Says Cruising Chair, Mary Kay McHenry - we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the Summer Solstice than to do an international tribute to Sailing. And we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the Sailstice - the circle raft up nicely works to symbolize the globe and increases the chance to get to know fellow sailors, while the international feast helps to acknowledge the global aspect of this holiday.
