The Maine Hunter Sailing Association is a group of Hunter sailboat owners, former owners, and friends of owners who enjoy coastal cruising in Maine. The association was inspired by Peter Poulin and organized in 2002. The objectives of the Association are, "to promote sailing, education, safety and cruising activities along the coast of Maine...". In addition to an annual meeting they offer members a variety of group sailing experiences, educational seminars, and social activities.
There are currently more than 30 individual and family members. Boats range from 27 to 45 feet and from brand new to over 20 years old. The members come from far northern Maine to Rhode Island and western Massachusetts. Most activities are centered within an hour of Portland, but the association regularly cruises Down East to Penobscot Bay and beyond.
