...to the Summer Sailstice messabout, hosted by the Back Yard Yacht Builders Association’s SE Fleet at Hart State Park on Lake Hartwell. The fun starts on Thursday, June 15th and goes through the weekend. All sailors and non-sailors are welcome to come along. BYYB messabouts usually involve camping by a lake
or the seashore so builders who have not yet completed their boats can attend and sail with the other members. The SE fleet is planning on cooking a feast each night of the Sailstice starting on Thursday night. There may also be a small wooden boat show for the campers at Hart State Park.

Lake Hartwell is on the border of Georgia and South Carolina. The park includes 56,000 acres and has 962 miles of shoreline, mostly forested. There are many recreational areas around the lake where visitors can camp, fish or go boating.
BYYB is a club for builders of traditionally styled pocket yachts. Members build plywood boats designed by Stevenson Projects including Pocket Yachts, Sailing Dingies, Fast Daysailers. BYYB does, however, welcome anyone who has been bitten by the boat-building bug. Some builders are professional woodworkers or boat builders, others have never cut a piece of wood in their lives until they began building their dream boat. The Sailstice event is part of a virtual worldwide BYYB messabout, as the club has members around the world.
