Indiana Sailors Ride the Wild Winds to Celebrate Summer Sailstice!

Muncie Sailing Club in Indiana were ready to host their annual Summer Sailstice Funnyman Regatta, but high winds caused the regatta to be postponed to a future date. However that didn't stop the crew from joining the world in celebration of sailing on Summer Sailstice.

'Landlocked in Indiana we were having pretty high winds so a few brave souls ventured out on Main sail only. We had a great time and a fun ride on the wild wind and waves at Prairie Creek reservoir.'

'We had plans for a Funnyman regatta for Sunday and picnic. The winds were even higher on Sunday so we had a picnic and postponed the Funnyman Regatta until a later date.'

'Thanks for the inspiration of Summer Sailstice Celebration and we joined the world sailing on Saturday 24th of June 2017.'

Muncie Sailing Club is located on Prairie Creek Lake, a reservoir south of Muncie, IN. Founded in 1961 to promote sailing on the lake, MSC provides facilities for launching and mooring sail boats, social and racing programs for members, and programs of instruction for various groups. Now they have over 70 in-water slips and over 60 dry-sail spaces and have evolved into a high quality sailing facility thanks to the generosity of many individual sailors who continue to donate their talent and labor to the Club. A club house, deck, picnic shelter, a day sailer, and a catamaran are available for all members to use. The Club also offers inexpensive full-day sailing clinics for adults; a great way to get a feel for sailing if you've ever wanted to try it out!
