Head for the Soulange Canal for the Summer Sailstice weekend gala hosted by the Pointe Claire Yacht Club & BYC.
The Pointe Claire Yacht Club — on Lac St. Louis near Montréal is hosting their annual cruise to Snake Harbor. Their celebration is open to all, organizer Dan O'Connell said.
"If you can't make it by boat, there is always the land yacht," O'Connell said with a smile.
Festivities include the annual potluck party on The Wall starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through the evening. Participants, whether boaters or land yachters, should bring yummy cocktails, finger foods and interesting hors d'oeuvres for the potluck. Don't forget to bring your friends.
O'Connell asks everyone to bring a bucket of gravel or sand "and we'll try to start putting a dent in in the task of filling the hole in the concrete island."
In years past, the celebration drew as many as 28 boats and the group hopes to break that record this year. So bring as many friends as you can and ask all boaters you know to come along.
O'Connell asks folks to sign up on the Summer Sailstice website and, if possible, mention what you're bringing for the hor d'oeuvres party.
