Go sailing Saturday to celebrate Summer and win sailing related prizes.

Summers Sailstice is an international celebration of sailing that happens every year on the summer solstice.  To participate all you have to do is sign-up at www.summersailstice.com and then go sailing on Saturday.

There is no entry fee and by doing so you'll be automatically entered to win hundreds of sailing related prizes. Your also encouraged to take pictures, and send them back with your story to the site. It all for fun!

This year Summer Sailstice also happens to coincides with the Lakeshore State Park Season Opener party at the new park by the Summerfest grounds. This event is a perfect afternoon destination, so please plan to stop in, see the new harbor and enjoy the events. Check out www.friendslsp.org/events.php for event details.

Take in the scenic views of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee from this beautiful 17 acre state park surrounded by water. Join us at Lakeshore State Park’s 2nd Annual Summer Opener. Stroll the Park and celebrate the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, while you visit a variety of free park activities including:

  • Canoeing & kayaking with Laacke & Joys

  • Bike ride from Hank Aaron State Trail

  • Bike safety and Wheel N’ Sprocket

  • REI PEAK program for kids

  • Live reptiles, amphibians & birds

  • Fishing clinic for kids

  • Pontoon rides by Performance Yacht

  • Kite flying with Gift of Wings

  • Segway rentals

  • Nordic Walking

  • Solstice celebration –
