Reality Sailing Celebrates Sailstice with Future Sailors

On June 22nd, Manuel "Manny" Moreno embraced the Summer Sailstice celebration as an opportunity to introduce future sailors to this amazing sport.

"We celebrated the longest day of the year by sharing sailing with the youth. On this occasion a very young generation."

Reality Sailing with the very young

Reality Sailing Youth Program focuses on sparking the interest for sailing among everyone, especially youth.

"During the 2019 Sailstice we decided to reach the very young, and an RC Sailboat gave us the opportunity to get kids interested. We also gave rides aboard our Lido 14."

Reality Sailing is an ASA affiliated organization located in San Diego.

"We're a sailing school that focuses in teaching and certifying sailors in four different standards set by the American Sailing Association. Also we have a small fleet of Lido 14 and Lasers that we use to get people started in the sport."

Manny's life is surrounded by sailing and sailboats and right now, he and his team are restoring a classic cutter-rig sailboat which will become their floating school.

"In it we're planning to cruise and produce a documentary about the importance of the Sea of Cortéz in the survival of thousands of marine species."

While the restoration is progressing, they're hopeful of finding donors to help fund the project to its completion.
