Sailing Celebration Ahead

November 21st, 2012 | Summer Sailstice Newsletter

Save the Date - June 22, 2013.  Now, invite your sailing friends from Russia, Oman, Germany, Japan, San Diego, Corpus Christie - we're aiming to get at least one sailboat signed up and sailing in all 360 degrees of longitude around the world.

Can you help get an Opti, Laser or Hobie sailing in each degree of longitude?  The opportunity is for you to be part of something big - the world's largest celebration of sailing.  Help make it happen by getting your club, class and all sailing friends to hoist their sails June 22, 2013.

More Summer Sailstice Prize Winners!

Congratulations to Craig Chabala from the Portland, Oregon area who just received a North U Cruising and Seamanship workbook & DVD from North Sails Direct!

Many more winners are celebrating now. Check out the list of over 400 winners posted here.

Jeanneau Sponsorship

We're happy to announce Jeanneau has joined as a sponsor.  What's that mean?  It means they're contributing to the growth of a global sailing celebration and inviting you and all Jeanneau owners worldwide to get out and sail next June 22, 2013.  We know, first and foremost, Jeanneau owners all love to sail and they want to see more people get out and enjoy it.  Help us welcome Jeanneau aboard.

  Holiday Season Gift Ideas

We were just thinking, what's the best gift we could give to companies who have supported Summer Sailstice?  Well, honestly, it's customers.  And, yes, we hope that's you.  If you're thinking of gifts for sailors, why not just scroll down our prize page and see what our supporters might have for your sailing friends.

Here's some ideas:

- a copy of the 2013 Ultimate Sailing Calendar,

- a gift subscription to one of the many great sailing magazines,

- a Hobie sailboat,

- a charter with Footloose,

- a GoPro camera,

- a Maine Windjammer Cookbook,

- art from Jim DeWitt

- of course, West Marine has loads of ideas.

There's lots more.  Either way, as we approach the holidays and the shortest day of the year, the summer sailing season is on the horizon.  But remember, the sailing gift you give now, will come into good use when you're celebrating sailing's holiday; Summer Sailstice.  Head to the prize page and order from one of our great prize donors.

Give - Peace, Love & Sailing

If you're looking for a Summer Sailstice sailing gift, we do have Summer Sailstice "Peace, Love & Sailing" shirts in the Summer Sailstice store.  Order now.

Do you read Sailing Scuttlebutt?

It's true, just about everything I know about ISAF I learned from reading my daily dose of sailing in Scuttlebutt(Iwho?).  I wrote a short piece and they published it!  If you like sailing, and particularly racing, it's been a great way to keep up with it all since 1997.

 Sailstice Tales

You've had a whole summer of sailing since Summer Sailstice.  We've posted some of your Sailstice celebrations and adventures to Sailstice Tales.  Please pass on any other Sailstice photos or stories you might have from your summer sailing archives.

Join Summer Sailstice on FACEBOOK! - you don't want to miss any sailing! Summer Sailstice is a global sailing celebration started in 2001 to unite the saililng world on the weekend closest to the summer solstice.
