"Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning."

"Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning."

"Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning." Julien Hofberg sometimes adds this quote from J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan to the bottom of his emails, and we think it's a perfect line for sailors to adopt. Afterall, our best laid plans are often nothing more than a loose guide while our path and speed are adjusted for the wind and the sea.

But we digress. The real reason we're talking about Julien Hofberg is that Julien won the BoatUS Unlimited Saltwater Towing Membership package in this year's Summer Sailstice prize draw. Julien and his wife Linda have been celebrating the Sailstice for several years and this is not the first time they've won a Summer Sailstice prize.

This couple clearly has some Irish heritage as in 2015 they won a copy of Chesapeake Bay Magazine's Guide to Cruising the Chesapeake — which was very lucky as they'd accidently left their last copy aboard the boat they had recently sold. Then, only six months later they won a Navionics Chart App in our January Early-bird sign up promotion.

And now, after learning about their win from BoatUS, Julien again responded with news of a lucky coincidence — his exisiting BoatUS membership was about to expire!

This my friends is why you should alway sign up for Summer Sailstice, and do it early. You just never know if and what you might win.

Here are some photos of the Hofberg's Tartan 4600 Phoenix, aboard which they've been sailing the Chesapeake and beyond for around four years. But don't be misled, these two are no strangers to sailing and have owned a number of sailboats and regularly get out on the water with the local group, Sailing Chavurah.
