Sixteen Singlehaned Sailors signed up to sail to Hawaii

The first Singlehanded Transpac race from San Francisco to Hawaii was run in 1978 and now, 32 years later, 16 singlehanders will start off on the 2,120 mile voyage on Summer Sailstice. Now 80 years young one of the heroes already is Ken Roper, “The General”, who will be sailing his 11th singlehanded race to Hawaii! At the other end of the age spectrum is Ronnie Simpson who, at age 25 and an Iraq vet, has already had several lifetimes of adventure. But he’s heading out for more. He’ll cross the Pacific to Hawaii in a Juston 30 call ‘Warriors Wish’.

All 16 racers are now signed up for Summer Sailstice proving you can both race, celebrate a sailing holiday while adding to your chances of winning. By the time they arrive in Hawaii 15 or more days later the prize drawing for Summer Sailstice will have been held and, regardless of their results on the racecourse, they could find themselves a winner.
