Summer Sailstice 2019 Contest Winners Announced

Here it is, the announcement we've all been waiting for: the 2019 Summer Sailstice contest winners.

First, we'd like to thank everyone who participated – not only the contest entrants but everyone who participated in Summer Sailstice – because without you all there would be no contests!

Also a big THANK YOU to our wonderful sponsors, partners and prize donors,

"You put the wind in our sails!"

Summer Sailstice Raft up Contest:

Thank you to everyone who submitted their raft up photos. We know we always say that size isn't everything but this year we were unable to ignore the beauty of Washed Up Yacht Club's 43-boat overnight raft up. Congratulations to photographer Scott Racette, and to the entire group for putting this together. (You guys will have to decide who gets the prizes).

We heard that a few 'landlubbers' spent the night on Siren Island, the floating dock that you can see in the center of the raft up.

In second place is Susan Swensen Witherup with her 8-boat Raft up photo.

"This year we combined one of our annual long distance races with Solstice.  We sailed 12 NM from Ithaca Yacht Club to Sheldrake Point on Cayuga Lake, one of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York.  Once we got there, we all rafted up and enjoyed lunch together before sailing back home. It was a spectacular day."

Third place in the Raft up Contest goes to Chatham Sailing Club. These sailors celebrate Summer Sailstice every year, and while this year's raft up may be small they certainly all had a good time!

"We were 4 boats this year (the 4th was a Force 5 and they were sailing around when we took this picture) and 15 people! We get bigger every year. Chatham Sailing Club was joined by folks from The Landings and the Geechee Sailing Club. Sharing the joy!"

Here is what the prize winners take home.
