After nine years of putting together Summer Sailstice, over 20 years at Latitude 38 and about 50 years of sailing we got an award from US Sailing. We do have some glassware from our efforts on Friday night beer can racing and a few tarnished trophies from days sailing Turnabouts and 420s on the coast of Maine but beyond that most of our sailing rewards have just been great days on the water, some terrific long distance voyages and lots of sailing photos!
Of course US Sailing honors 52 people every year and it's great to see all the people out there who do so much for sailing. Dedicated race committee folks, long time sailors like Ernie Rideout of Santa Cruz who won the Santana 22 Nationals at age 90 and people like Peter Craig of Premiere Racing - the guy who brings us Key West Race Week and other fantastic sailing events. He also managed the recent, very successful Volvo Race stopover in Boston.
Anyway, great to be part of the US Sailing team and to get a pat on the back from them. Thanks US Sailing!
