Not everyone has access to a boat, or a body of water for that matter. Don't let that stop you from sailing ... you're invited to participate virtually from anywhere in the world.
Second Life is celebrating its sixth year as the official virtual event of Summer Sailstice with a whole week of activities planned from June 20-27. You can create your own avatar to participate in events such as the Festival of the Oceans Nautical Exposition, by far the world's largest virtual boat show, or watch the Coast Guard flotilla and Tall Ships Parade from the Sky Bleachers.
The entire Second Life aquatic community is invited to Sailstice. Merfolk can swim with the cruisers and listen and dance to great waterfront concerts. A new addition this year is a beautiful mer-grotto at the Festival.
On Saturday there's a Sailstice Cruise with an after-party featuring DJ Seamus, Live-Fire Battle Simulation by N+K Ships Age of Sail, Sails & Tails Party, and a sail-in movie. On Sunday you'll find a Seas Fishing Tourney, Coast Guard demonstrations, Pirate Cruise, and a Mermaids of the Marianas Dance and Light Show Extravaganza. Live entertainment takes place throughout the week at various locations.
For the first time, Summer Sailstice in Second Life has an official internet radio station! MtFB will be live throughout the weekend with lots of special programming especially for Sailstice! Click HERE to listen on the MtFB Web Page.
