In Seattle, Washington, Windworks Sailing Center figured out how to celebrate the Sailstice, have a blast, and raise money for a great charity! Windworks hosted a beer garden and BBQ, of which 100% of the tips were donated to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. They also donated 10% of the charter income for the day and were able to raise over a $1,000 for FHCRC. Way to go Windworks!
Not only did Windworks celebrate with some beer, good BBQ, and charity, but they boasted some empty docks as well. Many sailors went out to enjoy the sunny day in the best way possible: on the water! Windworks was also excited to say they sold out of Summer Sailstice 2013 t-shirts, and they could be spotted all around the event, whether it was catching a bite to eat, cooling off with some Sierra Nevada, or soaking up the wind and waves on a boat. Sounds like a great time!
