Mike Maier and crew raised every sail of their boat, Wind Walker, this past weekend to celebrate the Sailstice and to raise money to support Mary’s Place and the Church of Mary Magdalen – a homeless women’s shelter in Seattle. They couldn’t have been happier to support a cause by going sailing. Wind Walker sails out of the Liberty Bay/Puget Sound area of Washington. Maier has been sailing for fifty two years and loving it, Sailstice is just another excuse to get out on the water. Says Maier, “Summer Sailstice is a great idea. Sail locally, celebrate globally. Or sail globally and celebrate locally. It works any way you do it!”
