We are going to kick off the count down to the 2010 Summer Sailstice with an informal gathering of sailors at Ayala Cove on Angel Island. We'll celebrate the arrival of the shortest sailing day on the Sunday, December 20th - the day before the Winter Solstice.
We've watched the days get shorter, at last we'll be turning the corner and can begin counting down the days to June 19th and 20th, the weekend of the Summer Sailstice! We'll fire off the canons and horns at local solar noon (12:07:35) on Sunday to signal the start of the countdown while also celebrating the year-round sailing season on San Francisco Bay.
